Thanksgiving meal with Ms. Fink.

On Monday, 5th graders and some third graders were privileged to get to meet Mary Pope Osbourne, the author of The Magic Tree House series. We were not the only ones getting to know her. Students and teachers from around the country joined in for the Meet and Greet. Mrs. Osbourne greeted her audience, shared some information about herself with everyone, read from one of her new books, Windy Night With Wild Horses, and then she answered questions from around the country. I am not sure who was more excited to listen to her read, the teachers or the students!

Friendly reminder that we have our fundraiser event at Hickory Falls this Thursday from 4-8pm. We hope to see you there!

Yesterday, the second grade students had the wonderful opportunity to hear a local author speak and share her book with us. Libby Trostle lives in Littlestown and came to speak to the entire second grade about what it is like to be an author, the writing process, and how she gets ideas for her books. Students had the chance to ask Mrs. Trostle questions when she was done speaking to them and she even gave each student a copy of one of her books, Shining Hope Visits Niagara Falls. We were so excited to hear from a real author and get to ask her questions since writing is such an important part of our second grade curriculum. We are so thankful for the community we live in and the people who are willing to share their talents with us!

Congratulations to Mr. William Laughlin for being recognized as an Outstanding Teacher from the Shippensburg University Study Council!

ππ₯ A big thank you to Littlestown fire department for visiting our school and teaching our students all about fire safety! The kids had a blast exploring the fire truck, learning how to stay safe, and meeting real-life heroes.
Students should look for smoke detectors at home with their families tonight. If anyone does not have working smoke detectors and is unable to afford a smoke detector or needs help installing them they can send a note to school with their child including their name and phone number and the fire department will help them get smoke detectors. π§―π¨βπ

We had a wonderful day at Great Pumpkin PACES! We couldn't have asked for better weather. The day was filled with relay races, fun games on the field, a fun run, and yummy ice pops courtesy of Dr. Ross. Thank you to everyone who came out to watch. Since we surpassed our goal of raising $15,000 students were selected to silly string some staff members! What a fun end to a great day!
