Our 3rd Annual Caring and Sharing Holiday Drive is going on NOW! Here is how you can help: 1. Purchase a gift for a child/children. Please use the links below to sign up, they are broken into categories to make browsing easy. 2. Gifts should be approximately $25 in value. Gifts must be new and unused. (This is important to keep things fair among children for example so one child does not receive a $5 barbie while another gets a $25 barbie set) 3. Attach a note with the child's code to the unwrapped gift. (Example B3) 4. Return the UNWRAPPED gift to the ACES office by December 8, 2021. 5. Don't want to shop but still want to help? You can make a donation to the ACES PTO- write Caring & Sharing in the memo line and we'll do the shopping for you! Dear Parents and Staff, Earlier this week we were informed that the Commonwealth Court of Pennsylvania issued a decision invalidating the Face Covering Order issued by the PA Acting Secretary of Health. However, following that decision, the Pennsylvania Department of Education (PDE) notified all school districts that the state has filed an appeal of the Court’s ruling. The appeal has triggered a "stay" of the Court’s ruling, which means the mask order issued in September 2021 remains in effect. We also received a notice from the Governor indicating on January 17th, 2021 the state-wide mask is anticipated to end and become optional at the local level. The Pennsylvania leadership at the DOH, PDE, and Governor's office continue to send mixed messages and provide inconsistent information. The mixed messaging and timing of such communications has created a significant distraction to the educational process. Thank you all for remaining patient and not reacting immediately to such abrupt changes in policy by the state. LASD is currently providing a masking choice with the exception process therefore no immediate changes are necessary at this time. In August of 2021, we indicated we would reevaluate the Health and Safety plan at the halfway point in the school year. We will present an updated Health and Safety plan in December of 2021 with expected implementation in January of 2022. Should we receive official communication from the appeal prior to the new year, we will inform you of any changes. Most likely mitigation efforts will begin to be relaxed around face coverings and quarantine in the near future. Thank you for your continued support, patience, and calm approach on this long COVID road we have been driving. Chris Bigger, Superintendent

Students in Mrs. A. Smith's third grade class completed the "Candy Corn Challenge." They were asked to design a boat out of foil that would hold the most pieces of candy corn. They followed the steps of the scientific method to complete the activity. #thunderboltsflyworldclass

Dear Parents, Staff, and Students, During the 2020-2021 school year LASD implemented the FID - Flexible Instructional Days to replace snow/emergency make up days in the calendar. The first year of the FID days was certainly challenging when you add COVID to the mix. During the end of the 2020-2021 school year, we surveyed the families to evaluate FID days. Overwhelmingly, 85% of the responses were very satisfied with FID days as implemented. The one common request recommended a modified day and a common schedule between all buildings. We were able to take the feedback and adjust the FID day. All students will live stream from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm and follow the schedule provided by the school buildings. As a reminder to be in attendance for the day, you must participate in live stream classes and submit the required assignments. All staff will be available during their regular work hours of 8:00 am - 3:30 pm for Elementary and 7:15 am - 2:45 pm for secondary should you or your children need anything. For more information on Flexible Instruction Days (FID), please go to our website at https://littlestownasdpa.sites.thrillshare.com/page/district-calendar We hope this modification allows families some good old fashion snow day fun while still maintaining learning and keeping everyone safe.
