From the nurse’s office Just some reminders: Students cannot carry any medicine including cough drops in school. Cough drops are considered a medication and will be taken from the student. If your student is sick please keep them home. According to our school guidelines your student should be fever free for 24 hours ( that is without any medications) before returning to school. Also, according to the school guidelines, the student should be free from vomiting and diarrhea for 24 hours (without the use of medication) before returning to school. The nurse’s office does not have allergy medicine for students, if your child needs allergy medicine please have them take it before coming to school. The nurse’s office also does not have any cold medicine so if your child is in need of cold medicine please be sure that they are taking a 6 -12 hours medicine before coming to school so that it will get them through the school day. All current 6th graders will need to have a Tetanus (Tdap) and Meningococcal (MCV) vaccine to start 7th grade. Please check with their physician to see if they have received these immunizations. If they have received them and you have not given the school a copy of their recent immunization record this school year please send a copy to the school. If your student has not received these immunizations please set up an appointment to have your student receive these immunizations before the start of the 2023–2024 school year. All 7th graders are required by Pennsylvania school health law to have a dental exam to enter the seventh grade. If you have not already done so please turn in all completed dental forms to the health office. Mobile dentists will be back in the district in early May. If you would like for your child to participate in Mobile Dentist please have all forms returned to the health office by April 11,2023 Also be sure that your student is eating breakfast before coming to school so that they are fueled to start the day. Breakfast is available in the cafeteria in the morning before school starts for the students convenience. The best way to keep your students healthy is to remind them to wash their hands with soap and water or to use hand sanitizer whenever they enter the classroom or cafeteria and to also try

Hello, 8th Graders and Families! On Thursday, March 2, 2023, 8th graders will spend the morning at the High School for orientation. They will have the opportunity to meet with the high school administration and faculty to preview the high school experience. Students will hear a scheduling process overview, tour the building, and visit a club and elective fair. Here are the details: Students will begin their morning at the high school. Bus riders will be dropped off at the front doors of the high school. We are asking that car riders be dropped off at the high school drop off, and walkers walk directly to the high school. Students will enter the lobby and gather in the auditorium. At approximately 10:30, 8th graders will board LASD buses to travel back to Maple Avenue to finish out their day as usual. This is always an informative and exciting part of the 8th-grade transition to high school.
