Thunderbolt Families,
On Tuesday, October 21, 2025, law enforcement was contacted by building and district administration to conduct a wellness check on a staff member at Maple Avenue Middle School. During the wellness check, it was determined that the staff member was under the influence of alcohol. During law enforcement's investigation and subsequent inspection of the staff member's vehicle, two firearms were found and secured.
Please understand that the District immediately placed the building on restricted movement and worked collaboratively alongside law enforcement to ensure the safety of students and staff. While this staff member's actions are intolerable, at no time do we believe any students were under an imminent risk of harm, nor were any threats made. The staff member departed with law enforcement and will not be returning to the building. The District will continue to cooperate with law enforcement to protect the safety and security of our school community.
Please contact Dr. Moyer, Acting Superintendent or Dr. Berryman, Assistant Superintendent if you have any questions.
