Microphone Troubles:

All Mics are not created equal(ly)

Be sure you have gone through the setup procedure - this lets the computer set volume levels for the mic and “determine” the background noise level
Some mics don’t pick up the sounds of instruments well. Most computer mics are designed to work for the speaking voice
If you think your mic may be a problem, have your child play the same piece at school on our “Finale” mic & compare the score.

Echo & Feedback problems
If you can hear yourself through the speakers when you are playing, go to the “control panel” and call up your “Volume settings”
Under Options / Properties
Select Playback and “deselect” (uncheck or turn off) the mic
Select Record and be sure the mic is turned on.

Cannot Connect to our School Account on the Pyware server:

Be sure that all data is properly entered in the iPAS setup screen. (school name and account #)

Be sure the student user ID and password are correctly entered in the iPAS setup screen

If you have a virus protection product or any firewall installed check to see that FTP is listed as “allowed” or an “exception.
o File Transfer Protocol is an internet standard format for moving files across the net. This protocol is used (in the background) to receive and transmit iPAS files to and from the Pyware.com server. It is there that your assignments and test results are stored.

Please note: CD #2 contains “music files” which can be played in a CD player. It ALSO contains IPAS install files for Windows and MAC computers. It is possible that music will begin playing when you insert the disk into your computer. Please note instructions below.

* External microphone - not included (computer's internal microphone will

not produce acceptable results)

* Internet access required for some functions

Apple Macintosh Hardware Requirements:

* OS 10.2.6 or greater (10.3 recommended)

* 64 MB of RAM or greater (128 MB recommended)

* 650 MHz processor or greater (800 MHz recommended)

* 50 MB hard drive space

* External microphone and USB interface (not included)

* Internet access required for some functions

INSTALLATION PROCEDURES

Microsoft Windows Installation Procedures

* Insert CD 2 into your computer's CD drive.

* IF a “music player” software package starts to play the music files, close it.

* Double-click on My Computer (may be in “All Programs” Menu OR on your desktop)

* Right-click on the icon for your CD drive and select Open.

* Double-click on the Windows folder.

* Double-click on the Install icon and follow the instructions on the screen.

* When asked Where would you like to install? click NEXT for easy installation.

* Note: Each student has been provided with an IPAS info sheet that includes their ID & Password.

* Click DONE when installation is finished.

* You are now ready to begin using iPAS!

Apple Macintosh Installation Procedures
* Insert CD 2 into your computer's CD drive.

* IF a “music player” software package starts to play the music files, close it.

* Double-click on the iPAS CD icon once it appears on the desktop.

* Double-click on the Macintosh folder.

* Double-click on the Install icon and follow the instructions on the screen.

* - When asked Where would you like to install? click NEXT for easy installation.

* Click DONE when installation is finished.

* You are now ready to begin using iPAS!
