Story Starters
The topic of getting students
to write came up one day in our discussion group - 5/6 Connection -
and wonderful ideas were shared. I took the liberty of copying down
some of the story starters that teachers use to compel their
students to write. Here are some of those starters which may help
get your students into writing.
1. I never expected that one day I'd open my closet and find.......
2. It was obviously going to be an unusual day when my mom came into
my bedroom and said.....
3. The spaceship began to tumble out of control and there was only
one person to save the mission......
4. The waves crashed across the sand and I knew......
5. It's lost! What could I do now that.....
6. She was a funny old lady, but I knew she had come to tell me.....
7. It was my best friend's deepest secret and it would be a hard one
