The Board will meet in Regular Session on Monday, August 21, 2017 at 7:00 PM in the old (now new) Board Room located in the Administration Wing at Alloway Creek Elementary School, 162 Newark Street, Littlestown, PA 17340
The start of school is fast approaching and we are excited for all students to return on August 28th. The solar eclipse on August 21st, 2017 is right around the corner. We would have enjoyed using the special event as a learning opportunity with students if we were in school.
If your child is planning on viewing the eclipse, please make sure you follow the recommendations for protecting your eyes. Here is a short video clip to assist in safe viewing of the eclipse
LHS is hosting the presentation by the Adams County Heroin Awareness Taskforce on Tuesday August 22nd, 2017 from 6:30 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. in the LHS Auditorium, 200 East Myrtle Street, Littlestown, PA 17340.
All former LHS field hockey players, coaches, and managers are invited to attend! During the event, we will also be honoring the 1982 field hockey team, who is the only Littlestown state champion team. This will be a great opportunity to catch up with your former teammates, and get to know others who have played over the years!
On June 19th, the Board of School Director's recognized the following students of the month for May:
Back L-R: Travis Snyder, 12th grade; Braden Unger, 7th grade; Kathleen Wilson, 12th grade
Front L-R: Aubrey Norris, 3rd grade and Brooklyn Pyren, 5th grade.
The Gettysburg Times inaccurately reported the facts by mistake after the May 15th, 2017 board meeting. There were two executive sessions at the school board meeting to discuss different matters. The first was to listen to public comments about the student who made an inappropriate comment. The second was to discuss a disciplinary issue involving an elementary student and a personnel matter. The incidents were completely separate.
I am communicating to you as a father and the Superintendent of Schools about a difficult issue. Today, you may have heard about charges being filed against a Littlestown employee, Mr. Oaster. The Littlestown Area School District is saddened by the allegations and charges pending. My heart goes out to any person indirectly or directly affected by the conduct.
A graduating senior demonstrating the most overall self-improvement culminating in his or her senior year is awarded $500. A $100 cash award will be given to the four runners up. The award money may be used as the recipient wishes.
Two years ago we released a community survey to gain insights from you about our schools. We used your feedback to make improvements throughout each grade level and school. We are very hopeful you have seen, heard about, or personally experienced the improvement efforts of everyone to make Littlestown a World Class School and Community. Please take about 10 minutes of your time and complete the Community Survey by May 12th, 2017. We need to know you are seeing a difference. Thank you!
