Littlestown Wins County Environthon for the 19th Consecutive Year!

On May 8th, 2015 four Littlestown FFA members participated in the Adam’s County Envirothon held at the East Berlin Fish and Game.  For the 19th consecutive year, the Littlestown Team took 1st place at the county competition.  Members on the team include Hannah Leppo, Kaitlynn Bateman, Rebecca Lee, and Danielle Reed.

The Envirothon is an international competition that tests student’s knowledge in five environmental areas: Forestry, Wildlife, Aquatics, Soils, and a Current Issue.  This year’s current issue was urban Forestry.   Students compete as a team and the team having the highest total score wins.  This year’s Littlestown team had the high scores in the Wildlife Component as well as the Soils Component.

Members of the Littlestown Envirothon team meet two nights a week after school to prepare for the competition.   While preparing for this contest, students also participate in FFA Career Development Events (C.D.E.’s)  for additional practice.   This year, Littlestown FFA had the 1st place student in both the Adams, Franklin, York (AFY) Forestry Career Development Event  and the A.F.Y. Wildlife C.D.E.   Any student interested in being part of next year’s Envirothon team should contact the coach, Mr. Brant for more information.
